Q. As a make-up artist, what are your thoughts on the #NoMakeup Movement?

​

A: I feel that the #NoMakeup movement is a beautiful thing.  We believe a fresh face is a beautiful face. Make is only the icing on the cake.  So, the more you can rock your fresh face and let your skin breath, the better.

​

Q. How have make-up trends changed over the years?

​

A: Make-up trends are forever changing.  Now with the internet information is moving faster and faster including make-up tips review and tutorials.  They went from glossy lips and barley there foundation in the 90’s to heavy color matte lips with highly contour and highlights features on a blanked out face today.   Who knows what’s next, that’s what makes make-up so fun.

Q. If it true that make-up is bad for the skin?

​

A:  Depending on where you get your products from they can have skin damaging materials in them.   To be safe Make-up by Lay only uses locally sourced and manufactured products.  Also, it’s important give the skin a rest from make-up and properly wash and care for your skin.   This ensures the safety and that you won’t receive and unnecessary damage from your beauty products.

Q. Do you have a preferred skin care and make-up line?

​

A:  In addition to her products Lay owner of Make-up by Lay uses a number of different products.  Since each face is different   Lay researches the best all-natural products for each client.

Q. How has social media changed the make-up artist game?

​

A: Thanks to social media the YouTube star was born. Now beauty gurus have a platform to spread their knowledge.  Stay tuned to the Make-up by Lay YouTube Page for all new content including product reviewa, tutorials and more.

Q. What is your plan to grow followers on social media?

​

A: In efforts to grow our following on social media.  Make-up by Lay will be running special social media campaign to build out digital footprint and get build a bigger following.   Stay tuned to the Make-up by Lay Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and now on Snap Chat for the latest tips and tricks.

Q. What are your goals for this social media campaign?

​

A: The goals of the social media campaign are to 1. update the Make-up by Lay website and improve SEO. 2.   Increase the amount of traffic to the Make-up by Lay website. 3. Gain more followers on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and YouTube.

Q. What do you hope is the outcome of the is campaign?

​

A:  The hope for this campaign to gain followers on social media, extend our digital footprint to drive more traffic to the Make-up by Lay website.  As Lay starts to develop more product she wants to make they more accessible to everyone who want to ty them.

Q. Why is it so important to gain more followers on social media?

​

A:  As Make-up by Lay branches to start creating more products Owner Lay wants to be able to offer these products to more people in more places. That being said social media is the fastest, easiest way to achieve this goal.

Q. What is your main message to your follower’s and customers?

​

A:  Make-up by Lay’s main message to all clientele both online and in-person is to be yourself, you are beautiful in your own skin.  Make-up doesn’t make you beautiful, it just enhances the beauty you already have.

Q. What is your opinion on make-up artist Jeffery Star cosmetics and the recent allegations of harmful chemicals being found in his products?

​

A: I am a huge fan of Jeffery Star, his cosmetics and I respect him as a make-up artist.  However, I am a firm believer in natural is better so if he is indeed using harmful chemicals I would be disappointed but hope that corrects the issue timely and effectively.

Q.  Rumors of eyelash extensions causing real lashed to fall out? 

​

A:  There have been some reports of eyelash extensions causing the natural eyelashes to fall out.  That being said these reports have been made when the person gets them done by someone other than a licensed aesthetician or the person performing the job is licensed but still  doesn’t apply them properly.  Too much glue or not separating the lashed properly can cause this to occur.  Before getting it done it’s important to check and be sure that the person applying them is licensed, certified and has plenty of positive reviews under their belt.

Q. Eyelash extensions have been known to cause eye infections why do you still offer them as a service? 

​

A:  Just like with any other cosmetic, it’s important to practice proper hygiene and cleaning techniques with eyelash extensions.  Not following proper cleaning and care can result in eye infections or worse. Be sure to follow the cleaning and care instructions given to you by a licensed aesthetician carefully to avoid complications.

Q. As a make-up artist, what is your opinion on the rise of plastic surgery due to the popularity of the selfies?

​

A: At Make-up by Lay we believe that everyone is beautiful and make-up is just the icing to the beauty cake.  While we don’t judge those who decide to have surgery, we practice temporary beauty enhancements because we believe the true beauty is on the blank canvas underneath the make-up.

Q. Have you ever been taken to court by an unhappy customer?

​

A:  Like any other business, Make-up by Lay has had some unsatisfied customers in the past.  That being said we gone over and beyond to correct and issues and usually turn an unhappy customer into a regular repeat customer.

​

​

Q. Has any of your customers filed suit and claim physical harm or injury after receiving a service?

​

A:  Make-up by Lay takes extra precaution is testing and using non-hypoallergenic product to avoid these issues from happening.  Before each visit clients also fill out a questionnaire that includes any allergies or special needs.  This ensure each customer is given the exact care they need.

Q. Many other lip stick companies have come under fire for using chemicals.  Can you say that your 100% sure your products are chemical free?

​

A: All of our products including our lipsticks are all-natural, organic, gluten free and cruelty free.  Lay was involved with the creation of each product and then they were produced right in western Massachusetts. 

​

Q. You don’t have nearly as much content online as your competitors, why is that and what is being done to correct it?

​

A:  I am in the process of building my digital footprint. In the beginning of my career I focused on my clients and performing services in my area.  Now with my clientele growing in other areas I am focusing on areas outside of western mass.  Now I will start to create more content including tutorial videos, reviews and more.

Q. In the past, you had an issue with a customer claiming she didn’t receive her order.  What were the details and has the negative review on yelp and your PayPal corrected?

​

A:  Correct, in the past a customer claimed that they never received their shipment.  That incident was resolved and it turned out that she had received it but was being dishonest.  If this happens to any of my customers please contact support@makeupbylay.com immediately.

Q. There has been rumors of your having issues with other local make-up artist, is this true?

​

A: While we have had competitors in the market we chalked it up to healthy competition.  We believe that like any other business competition is going to happen.  While it can be good when it’s healthy, when it’s not that’s where we draw the line.  Make-up by Lay doesn’t take part in any activity outside the laws.  That being said the competitors that take it too far will be handled with the utmost importance.
